HANDHELD DERMATOSCOPIC VIDEO CAMERA COMPOUND NEVUS (NORMAL DERMATOSCOPY FINDING)

DERM(AT)OSCOPY = EPILUMINESCENCE MICROSCOPY (ELM) allows for a detailed surface analysis of a suspicious skin lesion by using a handheld device emitting incident light from a light source, penetrating the epidermal skin layer. The focus is the EPIDERMO-DERMAL JUNCTION ZONE (where melanomas begin), which can be thoroughly analyzed in detail. Immersion oil placed onto the lesion surface prior to the dermatoscopic examination makes the superficial epidermis layer transparent, thus giving visual access to inspect the deeper zone of the epidermo-dermal junction.
