(1) Check SYMMETRY vs ASYMMETRY: A hypothetical cut in the middle of the lesion gives unequal parts (see above).

(2) Look for BORDER IRREGULARITY: Recognize sawblade-like indentations and protrusions at the lesion periphery (see beneath).
