System Requirements

In short: Windows PC (9X, Me, NT, 2000, XP), Flash/FlashPlayer, JAVA, soundcard, internet browser/JavaScript activated (any) installed. 128 MB RAM (recommended 256 MB+), 100 MB free harddisk space. Minimum screen resolution 1024*768 (recommended: 1280*1024). Recommended: Color printer to print forms in color output mode. FlashPlayer installer included.

The MOLE ANALYSIS GUIDE runs on Windows PC systems (9X, Me, NT, 2000, XP) equipped with installed hard-/software multimedia functionality such as audio, video, flash, and java. The PC system needs to have hard-/software capabilities to display images and video (graphic video card) as well as a soundcard to use audio functionality. External loudspeakers are recommended.

In order to display multimedia content properly, the system needs to have the flashplayer installed (executing *.swf flash-formatted files). You further need to have an internet browser (any) installed and its JavaScript otion activated.

In addition, to display interactive multimedia content, your pc system needs to have a java environment installed, either the Microsoft JAVA VM (recommended), or the JAVA RUNTIME environment (Sun Microsystems, Inc.).

“FLASH” is here referred to as a vector graphic format packed to execute image and audio embedded *.swf files (small web format, shockwave flash format). To display *.swf files, the computer system requires to have the flashplayer installed. If you don't have a flashplayer installation on your system, you can get the most recent version of the flashplayer at www.macromedia.com, or, more conveniently, by clicking on the button "FLASH ENABLED" on the left screen basis of the software interface, which will call the flashplayer installer without the need to go online. Flash™, ShockWave™, and Macromedia Flash Player™ are registered trademarks of Macromedia, Inc.

The term “JAVA” should not be mixed up with the term “JAVASCRIPT”, which latter is used as a scripting language to add functionality to static web pages. Although it is required to have the “JAVASCRIPT” option on your system’s browser activated (to assure the full functionality range), “JAVA” here means the system’s capability to execute program modules (applets) designed in the JAVA programming language. This can be achieved by simply installing the “JAVA” environment either by using the Sun Java™ (Java™ 2 Runtime Environment) or the Microsoft VM® (Microsoft Java Virtual Machine), which can be downloaded for free on the respective websites. Without “JAVA” functionality installed, parts of the MOLE ANALYSIS GUIDE won’t display. Java™ (Java™ 2 Runtime Environment) is a registered trademark of Sun Microsystems, Inc. Microsoft VM® (Microsoft Java Virtual Machine) is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries.

Part of the MOLE ANALYSIS GUIDE contains audio media either as background music or as additional audio information. In the case of background music, you may decide to turn off audio at any time by clicking on the loudspeaker symbol displayed, should you find the music annoying or simply don’t want the music to be played aloud. Clicking again on the loudspeaker symbol will reactivate the audio function at any time. Alternatively, you may also shut off the audio function on your PC by using the system’s control panel audio option.
